Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information as it relates to repositioning of the SIR roll coil. These vehicles were produced with the correct SIR roll coil, however, the part number and repositioning instruction labeling on the SIR roll coil may be incorrect.

In the event SIR roll coil replacement is required, refer to the L-Series parts catalog for the correct part number and refer to the updated SIR roll coil repositioning instructions included in this bulletin.

Repositioning Procedure

Notice: The following procedure is the repositioning procedure for the SIR roll coil connector that should be used. The procedure stamped on the SIR roll coil connector body may be incorrect and should not be used.

Notice: If SIR roll coil connector is not properly oriented to steering column assembly, it will be damaged.


    Object Number: 891844  Size: SH
  1. Gently rotate coil hub clockwise with tab removed until slight tension is present.
  2. Gently rotate coil hub counterclockwise while counting the number of revolutions (approximately 3.5 to 4) until slight tension is present.
  3. Gently rotate coil hub clockwise one half of the number of revolutions counted in step 2 (approximately 1.75 to 2 times).
  4. Rotate smallest distance required to align yellow tab.
  5. Installs yellow tab. Use tape if tab is unavailable.
