Removal Procedure
Important: The fan control module wiring does not need to be disconnected from the module.
Additional wiring has been included in the harness for diagnosis and service.
- Slide the fan control module up and off the bracket. With the wiring connected,
set the fan control module aside.
- Remove the battery hold down/fan control module bracket bolt and bracket.
- Remove the battery. Refer to
Battery Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Uncover the battery feed on the fuse block cover.
- Disconnect the battery feed to the fuse block.
- Unsnap the engine cooling hose from the fuse block cover.
- Push
on the tabs at the end of the fuse block. Remove the cover (2) from the fuse
block.
- Push in the tabs (3) on the end of the fuse block case. Roll back
the fuse block (1).
- Disconnect
the electrical connectors.
- Remove the fuse block from the case.
- Remove
the routed harnesses.
Important: Two tabs hold the hard shell grommets in place at the bottom of the grommet.
Disengage these tabs and remove the grommet.
- Remove the bolt on the bottom of the fuse block case. Remove the case
from the battery tray.
Installation Procedure
- Place
the fuse block case on the battery tray.
- Use the locator tabs to position the fuse block case.
- Install the bolt in the bottom of the fuse block case.
- Route the engine harness (A) into the fuse block case. Push the
grommet until the tabs catch.
- Rehinge the fuse block to the case.
- Route the I/P (C) and the forward lamp (B) harnesses into
the fuse block case. Ensure that the tabs catch.
- Connect
the electrical connectors (4, 5, 6, 7) to the fuse block.
- Close
the fuse block. Secure the latch (2).
- Replace the fuse block cover. Secure the latch.
- Snap the engine cooling hose into place on the cover.
- Connect the battery feed to the fuse block.
- Install the battery feed cover over the battery feed terminal.
Important: Ensure that the battery tray is clean.
Important: Failure to use the battery foam shield will reduce the life of the battery.
- Install the battery. Refer to
Battery Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the battery hold down/fan control module bracket bolt and bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the bracket bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft)
- Slide the fan control module onto the battery hold down/fan control module
bracket.
