Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 894246 Size: SH
  1. Remove the intake manifold and spacer. Intake Manifold Replacement
  2. Remove the coolant bridge. Water Crossover Removal
  3. Remove the oil feed line from the engine oil cooler.
  4. Remove the return line from the engine oil cooler.
  5. Take note of the 4 seals.
  6. Remove the engine oil cooler line clamp.

    7. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Raise and support the vehicle.
  8. Remove the crank sensor bolt.
  9. Remove the crank sensor.
  10. Remove the oil filter housing. Oil Filter Housing Removal

  11. Remove the oil feed line from the engine block.
  12. Remove the return line from the engine block.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Remove the oil feed line.
  15. Remove the return line.

  16. Remove the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts.
  17. Remove the engine oil cooler cover bolt.
  18. Remove the engine oil cooler cover.
  19. Remove the engine oil cooler.
  20. Clean the sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 881249 Size: SH
  1. Install the engine oil cooler and O-rings.
  2. Apply a 2 mm (5/64 in) bead of silicone sealer P/N 12378521, or equivalent, in the groove around the engine oil cooler cover.
  3. Install the engine oil cooler cover.

    4. Object Number: 881212 Size: SH
  4. Install the engine oil cooler cover bolts. Torque in the sequence shown.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler cover bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the oil feed line.
  7. Install the return line.

    8. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  8. Raise and support the vehicle.
  9. Install the oil feed line to the engine block.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler feed and return lines to engine block to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  10. Install the return line to the engine block.

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler feed and return lines to engine block to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  11. Install the oil filter housing. Oil Filter Housing Removal
  12. Install the crank sensor.
  13. Install the crank sensor bolt.

    14. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Install the oil feed and install the return lines to the engine oil cooler. Use 4 new seals.

    16. Tighten
    Tighten the oiler cooler feed and return lines to engine block to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  16. Install the engine oil cooler line clamp.
  17. Install the coolant bridge. Refer to "Engine Coolant Bridge Replacement" procedure in this service manual.
  18. Install the intake manifold and spacer. Intake Manifold Replacement
  19. Check and fill the engine oil as necessary.
