SA9805E Fuel Line Separator

Removal Procedure

The EVAP emissions canister is located in a molded cavity on the top of the fuel tank.

  1. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle. Refer to Fuel Tank Removal.
  2. Disconnect the 5/8 in. fuel tank vapor inlet hose fitting from the canister.
  3. Disconnect the vent tube.
  4. Disconnect the 5/16 in. fuel vapor/canister purge fitting from the canister using the SA9805E .
  5. Remove the retaining strap.
  6. Remove the canister from the fuel tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Place the EVAP emissions canister in the pocket on top of the fuel tank. Make sure that the canister vent hose is positioned towards the middle of the fuel tank.
  2. • Canister purge (1)
    • Vapor (2)
    • Vent (3)

    Important: If a replacement canister is being installed, make sure that the vent hose is installed on the canister prior to installation on the fuel tank. Orient the molded vent hose on the canister so that when it is installed it is pointed toward the fuel tank inlet.

  3. Install the canister and its retaining strap.
  4. Important: Install the retainer for the purge fitting quick connect into the female portion of the connector. Care must be taken to ensure that the locking tab is centered in the window of the female connector.

  5. Install the 5/16 in. purge line fitting to the purge port on the canister.
  6. Install the 5/8 in. vapor line fitting to the tank port on the canister.
  7. Install the vent tube.
  8. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Installation.
  9. Perform the Service Bay Diagnostic Test for the evaporative emission system using the scan tool. This test will verify the integrity of the vapor handling areas of the fuel system.
