Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Important: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with
a purity identifier before recovery is recommended.
- Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system. Measure the
amount of oil removed during recovery and record.
- Remove the liquid line to suction/liquid line assembly nut.
- Remove the liquid line and seal washer from the suction/liquid line assembly.
- Install cap on suction/liquid line assembly to prevent moisture entry
and oil spillage.
- Release the liquid line from the rail clamp.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the vehicle.
Caution: Refer to HVAC Compressor Lines/Hoses Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the liquid line-to-condenser block bolt.
- Remove the liquid line from the condenser clamps.
- Remove the liquid line and seal washer from condenser block.
- Install the plug into the condenser block to prevent moisture entry and
oil spillage.
Installation Procedure
- Add any PAG oil that was removed during discharge to liquid line.
Important:
• | Always install new seal washers to prevent refrigerant leaks. |
• | Do not lubricate the seal washers. |
- Install the new seal washer onto the liquid line.
- Remove the condenser block plug and install the liquid line to the condenser
block.
- Install the liquid line into the condenser clamps.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Hand start the liquid line-to-condenser block bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the suction/liquid line cap and install a new seal washer.
- Install the liquid line to the suction/liquid line assembly and hand start
the nut.
- Install the liquid line into the inner rail clamp and close.
Tighten
Tighten the suction/liquid line-to-suction pipe
nut to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolts 17 N·m
(13 lb ft).
- Evacuate, charge, and leak check the A/C system.
