  1. Install the engine oil cooler.

  2. Object Number: 159496  Size: SH
  3. Apply a 2 mm (0.08 in) bead of RTV silicone sealant, GM P/N 12346240, in the groove around the engine oil cooler cover in place of the old seal.
  4. Install the engine oil cooler cover.

  5. Object Number: 159494  Size: SH
  6. Install the engine oil cooler cover bolts (2).
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler cover bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Install the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the oil cooler outlet line (1) to the engine block.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler outlet line (1) to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  12. Install the oil cooler inlet line (2) to the engine block.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler inlet line to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  14. Install the oil filter cartridge housing to the engine block.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter cartridge housing to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  16. Install the 4 new seals.
  17. Install the oil cooler inlet line to the engine oil cooler.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler inlet line to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  19. Install the oil cooler outlet line to the engine oil cooler.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler outlet line to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  1. Install the engine oil cooler and the new O-ring seals.

  2. Object Number: 881249  Size: SH
  3. Apply a 2 mm (0.08 in) bead of P/N 12378521, or equivalent, in the groove around the engine oil cooler cover.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 881212  Size: SH
  5. Install the engine oil cooler cover bolts using the torque sequence shown.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler cover bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Install the engine oil cooler inlet and the outlet nuts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler inlet and the outlet nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Install the oil feed line to the engine block.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler feed and the return lines to the engine block to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  11. Install the return line to the engine block.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler feed and the return lines to the engine block to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  13. Install the engine oil cooler line clamp
  14. Install the crank sensor.
  15. Install the crank sensor bolt.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb ft).

  17. Install the oil filter assembly.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter cartridge housing-to-engine to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  19. Install the oil feed and install the return lines to the engine oil cooler. Use the 4 new seals.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the oil cooler feed and the return lines to the engine block to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
