Setting the Time of Day

Hold the RCL button, then at the same time, press a side of the TUNE/SEEK rocker button. Press the down arrow to change the hour (1-12), or press the up arrow to change the minute (0-59). Release the button when the time of day is correct.

Playing the Radio

Power/VOL: When you push the Power/VOL knob in, the system will turn on or off. Turn the Power/VOL knob to control the volume when the system is on. Turn the knob to the right to increase the volume or turn the knob to the left to decrease the volume.

RCL: If you press the RCL button while both the vehicle and radio are on, the display will show the station frequency. The station frequency only stays on the display for ten seconds before returning to display the time of day. If you press the RCL button before the ten seconds has passed, the time of day will instantly return to the display. If you press the RCL button while the vehicle is off, the back lighting of the display will light up so that it is easier to read the time of day. When playing a CD, press the RCL button to see what track number is currently being played. Immediately pressing RCL again will display the elapsed track time.

Finding a Station

AM FM: When you press the AM/FM button, the radio will switch between FM1, FM2, and AM bands. Two FM bands are available so that you may preset twelve FM station frequencies. You may preset six AM station frequencies on the AM band. This display will show your band selection, along with the station frequency, for ten seconds before returning to display the time of day. If you press the AM/FM button while the radio is off or while the CD is playing, the radio will switch back to the last played AM or FM station without ejecting the CD.

TUNE : When in the AM/FM mode, use the tune function to manually change the station frequency one station at a time by lightly pressing a side of the station frequency by one station and the top side to increase the station frequency by one station. After you release the rocker button, the display shows the station frequency and band for ten seconds, then returns to display the time of day.

SEEK : Use the seek function to automatically proceed to the next available frequency that can be received with good sound quality. Press and hold one side of the TUNE/SEEK rocker button until a tone sounds, indicating that the seek function has been activated. The radio will begin to change station frequencies until you release the rocker button, then will stop at the next receivable station frequency. Hold the top side of the rocker button to increase the station frequency or the bottom side to decrease the station frequency. If you would like to cancel the seek function before it reaches the next receivable station, press the TUNE/SEEK rocker button in the opposite direction that it is currently seeking.

SCN (Scan): When you press the SCN button, the radio will sequentially sample all of the receivable AM or FM station frequencies with good sound quality and will pause for 5 seconds at each. To cancel the scan function, press the SCN button a second time. If a station frequency is currently being played when the scan function is cancelled, that station will continue to play. If the radio is between station frequencies when you cancel the scan function, the radio will return to the last station frequency played.

Setting Preset Stations

The six pushbuttons let you choose and set your favorite stations. You can set up to six AM stations and 12 FM stations (six FM1 and six FM2).

To set a station frequency to a preset button:

1. Turn the radio on.
2. Press AM/FM to select FM1, FM2, or AM.
3. Tune in the desired station.
4. Press and hold the designated preset button until you hear an audio confirmation beep. Whenever you press a numbered preset button, the stored station frequency at the station will return.
5. Repeat the steps for each preset button.

Any previous set station on a station frequency preset button will be replaced by the last station frequency programmed on that button.

If the battery has been disconnected or a radio fuse has been removed, the preset stations and time of day will need to be reset.

Using Automatic Set

Use this feature to automatically save the radio preset pushbuttons with the stations with the strongest radio signals.

A.SET (Automatic Set): Press the AM FM button to have the radio automatically select the first 12 strongest radio stations for FM and the six strongest radio stations for AM. To select the stations, perform the following:

1. Press AM/FM to select FM1, FM2, or AM.
2. Press and hold AM/FM until you hear a beep.

The radio will begin to search the current band. The radio will store the stations, starting from the lowest frequency, to each preset pushbutton. A.SET will appear on the display when the radio is finished storing the stations.

Cancelling Automatic Set

The radio retains the previously stored stations so they can be recalled when automatic set is canceled.

Press and hold the AM/FM until you hear a beep. A.SET will no longer appear on the display.

Mode

Use the MODE, +, and -- buttons to set the tone of the sound from the speakers and to adjust which speakers that you would like the sound to come from. Press the MODE button to switch between BAS (Bass), TRE (Treble), FAD (Fade), MODE, +, and -- button within ten seconds, then the time of day will return to the display.

Setting the Tone (Bass/Treble)

BASS: Press the MODE button until BAS appears on the display so that you can adjust the bass response. In the bass mode, press + button to increase the bass response or press the - button to decrease the bass response. The display moves accordingly.

TREB (Treble): Press the MODE button until TRE appears on the display so that you can adjust the treble response. In the treble mode, press the + button to increase the triple response or press the - button to decrease the treble response. The display moves accordingly.

If a station is weak or noisy, you may want to decrease the treble response for better sound quality.

Adjusting the Speakers (Balance/Fade)

FAD (Fade): Press the MODE button until FAD appears on the display. This allows you to adjust the sound between the front and rear speakers. As you press the + button, the sound output moves to the front speakers. (The blinking dash mark on the display moves to the left.) As you press the - button, the sound output moves to the rear speakers. When the blinking dash mark is in the middle position, the sound output is equally balanced between the front and rear speakers.

BAL (Balance): Press the MODE button until BAL appears on the display. In this mode, you can adjust the balance of sound output between the speakers on the right side and left side of the vehicle. In the balance mode, press the + button to hear the sound only from the speakers on the right side of the vehicle. Press the - button to hear the sound only from the speakers on the left side of the vehicle. The display moves accordingly. When the blinking dash mark is in the middle position, the sound output is equally balanced between the left and right speakers.

Playing a Compact Disc (CD)

Before inserting a CD, press the EJ (eject) button to make sure that a CD is not already in the player. With the ignition on and the radio either in or off, insert a CD, label side up, part way into the slot. The player will pull the CD in and begin to play the CD even if the radio was off.

While your vehicle is on, the CD symbol will be present on the display whenever a CD is present in the CD player.

While a CD is playing, the CD symbol along with the letters CD will be present on the display. In the center of the display is the indication of the track that is being played.

If the radio is off when you install a CD, the player will return to the power off state when you eject the CD. If the radio is off when you install a CD and you had press the AM/FM button while you were playing the CD, then the last played radio station will be played again when you eject the CD.

CD (Compact Disc): When the vehicle is on, press the CD button to play a CD when the radio is on or while the radio is off and a CD is already in the CD player. You will know that a CD is already in the player, if the CD symbol is on the display when the vehicle is on.

EJ (Eject): Press the EJ button to eject the CD from the CD player. You can eject a CD regardless of whether the ignition is on or off. If you eject the CD, then before removing it from the player decide you would like to play it, press CD button. The player will pull the CD back into the CD player and begin to play it. If you eject the CD, but do not remove it from the player within 15 seconds, the CD player will automatically pull the CD back in.

PRV (Previous) or TUNE/SEEK: To move to the beginning of the current track, press the PRV button (Station Frequency Preset Button 1) or the TUNE/SEEK button.

NXT (Next) TUNE/SEEK : To move to the next tract, press wither the NXT button or the TUNE/SEEK button (Station Frequency Preset Button 2).

REV (Reverse): To quickly reverse within a track, press and hold the REV button (Station Frequency Preset Button 3). You will hear sound at a reduced volume and the display will show elapsed track time. Release the REV button to resume play.

FWD (Forward): To quickly advance within a track, press and hold the FWD button (Station Frequency Preset Button 4). You will hear sound at a reduced volume and the display will show elapsed track time. Release the FWD button to resume play.

RDM (Random): To hear the tracks on the CD in a random rather than a sequential order, press the RDM button (Station Frequency Preset Button 5). After pressing the RDM button, the CD player will immediately stop playing the current selection and will advance to the first random selection. To skip a selection chosen by the random play feature, press the NEXT button. To repeat a selection only one time, press the PREV button. To turn off random play mode, press the RDM button again. While using the random feature, RDM will be present on the display.

RPT (Repeat): To turn the repeat track feature on or off, press the RPT button (Station Frequency Preset Button 6). When the repeat track feature is on, the letters RPT will be displayed on the display. The current track will keep repeating until you cancel the repeat feature by pressing the RPT button again.

Error Messages, Probable Causes, and Solutions

Several conditions will cause errors preventing proper CD operation. These include loading a CD upside down, moisture on the CD, and a dirty damaged CD. Moisture on the focusing mechanism internal to the CD player CD player may also cause an error. While using your CD player, if the radio detects an error, it will let you know by either ejecting the CD or by temporarily displaying "ERR". If an error message appears on your display, please check the probable causes of the error to correct the problem. Following is a list of possible problems, along with the probable causes and solutions.

If the following solutions do not correct the problem, you may have a CD player failure. See your Retailer or authorized service provider for service.

If the CD ejects upon insertion (right after loading):

First check to see if you are inserting the CD upside down. It should be inserted with the label facing upwards. Reinstall the CD label side up. If the CD still ejects when it is install label side up, you could have a warped or cracked CD. Check the CD for problems. Avoid using any cracked or deformed CDs.
