It is important for you or a service station attendant to perform these underhood checks at each fuel fill.

Engine Oil Level Check

Check the engine oil level and add the proper oil if necessary. See Engine Oil for further details.

Notice: It is important to check the engine oil regularly and keep it at the proper level. Failure to keep the engine oil at the proper level can cause damage to the engine not covered by the vehicle warranty.

Engine Coolant Level Check

Check the engine coolant level and add DEX-COOL coolant mixture if necessary. See Engine Coolant for further details.

Fluid Level Checks:

The following fluid levels should be checked visually:

    • Windshield and Wagon Rear Window Washer Fluid
    • Brake Fluid
    • Power Steering Fluid
    • Coolant

Add the proper fluid as needed.

Tire Inflation Check

Visually inspect your tires and make sure tires are inflated to the correct pressures. Do not forget to check your spare tire. See Tires for further details. Check to make sure the spare tire is stored securely. Push, pull and then try to turn the spare tire. If it moves, tighten it. See Changing a Flat Tire .

Hood Latch Operation:

When opening the hood, note the operation of the secondary latch. It should keep the hood from opening all the way when the primary latch is released. Make sure the hood locks securely into place when it is closed. If it does not, service as necessary.
