Odometer Reads 0 Miles (0km/h) Or B1001 after Programming The BCM - keywords calibration communication data lamp light no SDM SIR

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

The odometer displays 0 miles (km/h) or the BCM and/or SDM set a B1001 after programming the BCM. This can be caused by other programs that are running on the computer that is used for programming. An example of this could be Spyware or pop-up blocker programs. These programs may cause a no communication concern when doing pass-thru programming.

1. Lack of communication with the BCM will cause no mileage prompt when programming a new service BCM. If the new service BCM is programmed with no mileage prompt, then the odometer will be zero and the BCM will be locked down.
2. Lack of communication with the SDM will cause the SDM part number 0000 to be written to the BCM during programming, therefore generating the B1001 DTC.

It will be necessary to contact Techline at 1-800-828-6860 about this concern.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
