Subject:Center Console Arm Rest Lid Contacts Lumbar Adjuster Knob (Remove and Reinstall Center Console)

Models:2002-2003 Saturn L-Series Vehicles

Condition:

Some customers may comment that the center console arm rest lid contacts or rubs the lumbar adjuster knob when the lid is opened.

Cause:

This condition may be caused by variation in the position of the center console, which may result in interference between the console arm rest and the lumbar adjuster knob.

Correction:

Remove and reinstall the center console.

Service Procedure


    Object Number: 896495  Size: SH
  1. Move the front seats to the rearward most position and remove the console front fasteners.
  2. Move the front seats to the forward most position and remove the console rear fasteners.
  3. Reinstall the left rear fastener. Tug on the console to the right and reinstall the right rear fastener.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the Console Fasteners to 2.5 N·m (22 in-lbs).

  5. While holding down the front of center console, open the center console arm rest lid and verify that it is no longer contacting or rubbing with the lumbar adjuster knob. If arm rest lid still contacts or rubs lumbar adjuster knob, repeat step 3.
  6. Move the front seats to the rearward most position and reinstall the front fasteners.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the Console Fasteners to 2.5 N·m (22 in-lbs).
