J 42067 Rear Main Seal Installer

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 894327  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the flexplate. Refer to Flexplate Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 895999  Size: SH
  4. Center punch the steel ring of the rear main oil seal.
  5. Important: Do not damage the engine components on the opposite side of the rear main oil seal when drilling the hole.

  6. Drill a small, shallow pilot hole into the steel ring of the rear main oil seal.
  7. Screw in a self-tapping screw.
  8. Use pliers to pull out the rear main oil seal.
  9. Clean all of the sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 895997  Size: SH
  1. Coat the lip of the rear main oil seal with a small amount of clean engine oil.
  2. Use the J 42067 to install the rear main oil seal.
  3. Install the flexplate. Refer to Flexplate Replacement .
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
