J 42067 Rear Main Seal Installer

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the flexplate. Refer to Flexplate Replacement .



3. Center punch the steel ring of the rear main oil seal.

Important: Do not damage the engine components on the opposite side of the rear main oil seal when drilling the hole.

4. Drill a small, shallow pilot hole into the steel ring of the rear main oil seal.
5. Screw in a self-tapping screw.
6. Use pliers to pull out the rear main oil seal.
7. Clean all of the sealing surfaces.

1. Coat the lip of the rear main oil seal with a small amount of clean engine oil.
2. Use the J 42067 to install the rear main oil seal.
3. Install the flexplate. Refer to Flexplate Replacement .

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

4. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
