Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the wheel and the tire assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Pry off the locking plate and remove the brake pressure hose from the
strut.
Notice: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent,
whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and
in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
- Remove the caliper bracket-to-steering knuckle bolts.
- Suspend the caliper using mechanics wire.
- Remove
the rotor retaining screw.
- Remove the rotor from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install
the brake rotor onto the wheel hub.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Tighten the rotor retaining screw.
Tighten
Tighten the brake rotor retaining screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
- Clean the caliper support bracket fasteners thoroughly with brake and
choke cleaner P/N 21007432 or equivalent.
Important: If LOCTITE 272® Threadlocker or equivalent is not available, new caliper
support bracket fasteners must be used.
- Apply LOCTITE 272® Threadlocker or equivalent to the caliper support bracket
fasteners.
- Install the caliper bracket-to-steering knuckle bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the brake caliper-to-steering knuckle bolts to 95 N·m
(70 lb ft).
- Attach the brake pressure hose and install
the locking plate.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
