PURPOSE

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide a new "Inner Dash Panel Insulator" service procedure and to update all 2000 and 2001 L-Series Body/Electrical Volume II Service Manuals at your location.

New labor Operation Number C2432 (Insulator, Dash Panel Inner - Replace) has been established in order to receive credit for this repair during the warranty period.

Please obtain all the 2000 and 2001 L-Series Body/Electrical Volume II Service Manuals and make the necessary updates as indicated below.

  1. Remove staple from upper corner of this bulletin.
  2. Make additional photocopies of pages 3 and 56 in this bulletin as necessary.
  3. Insert pages 3 and 5 of this bulletin as indicated below.
  4. • Page 3, 2000 L-Series Body/Electrical Volume II Service Manual between pages 884 and 885.
    • Page 5, 2001 L-Series Body/Electrical Volume II Service Manual between pages 908 and 909.

CLAIM INFORMATION

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn Dealer System for C2432 (Insulator, Dash Panel Inner - Replace).

Service Manual update page to be inserted between pages 884 and 885 of the 2000 L-Series Body/Electrical Volume II Service Manual. Refer to Technical Information Bulletin 00-T-61. November, 2000.

Inner Dash Panel Insulator Removal Procedure

  1. Remove HVAC Module. (Refer to the removal portion of "HVAC Module Removal and Overhaul" procedure in the 2000/2001 L-Series HVAC Service Manual).

  2. Object Number: 898019  Size: SH
  3. Remove inner dash panel insulator fasteners.
  4. Remove inner dash panel insulator.
  5. Important: Cutting the old dash panel insulator at the top of the pass through opening on the drivers side will allow the dash panel insulator to be removed without having to disconnect any major wiring harnesses.

Installation


    Object Number: 898019  Size: SH
  1. Cut new dash panel insulator as shown in illustration.
  2. Install dash panel insulator into vehicle. Make sure to route wiring harnesses through opening on drivers side of dash panel insulator.
  3. Apply 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (or equivalent) to the backside of the dash panel insulator on both side of the area where the cut was made.
  4. Install dash panel insulator fasteners.
  5. Install HVAC Module. (Refer to the installation portion of "HVAC Module Removal and Overhaul" procedure in the 2000/2001 L-Series HVAC Service Manual.)
