The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

The customer may have a concern of the MIL being illuminated. The vehicle may a DTC P2097, P2099. P2096, P2098, P0420 or P0430

Recommendation/Instructions:

If following eSI diagnostics does not correct concern then this may be an exhaust leak. This leak may be very small and hard to locate. The ultrasonic leak detector J-41416 may assist in finding the leak. Be sure to check the seal between the exhaust pipe and converter. Also the welds around the HO2 sensor fitting may have pinholes.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
