Subject:Intermittent Park Brake Lamp Indication

2007-2008 Saturn Outlook

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment that the park brake indicator illuminates when the park brake is not applied. This may be due to water leaking into the vehicle and settling on the park brake switch. The water settling on the switch contacts can create a condition where the park brake indicator may be on when the park brake is not applied.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Do not replace the brake switch if the switch is wet or shows signs of previous water intrusion. Clean the switch contacts and investigate for the source of the water leak. Check vehicle history for the completion of the customer satisfaction campaign #08207 and the potential for a sunroof water leak causing the water intrusion.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
