Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Remove any dirt or debris from the brake pipe fitting (1).
- Using a backup wrench on the brake hose fitting, disconnect the brake pipe fitting.
Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove the brake hose bracket bolt (2).
- Remove the brake hose fitting bolt (1).
- Remove and discard the 2 brake hose fitting gaskets (2).
- Remove the brake hose (3).
Installation Procedure
- Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) and 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the brake hose assembly to the caliper.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose bracket bolt (2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Using a backup wrench on the brake hose fitting, connect the brake pipe fitting (1).
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Lower the vehicle.
