2nd and/or 3rd Row Seat Floor Mat will not Lay Flat (Adjust Floor Mat Retainer(s))

Subject:2nd and/or 3rd Row Seat Floor Mat Will Not Lay Flat (Adjust Floor Mat Retainer(s))

Models:2007 GMC Acadia
2007 Saturn Outlook

Condition

Some customers may comment that the 2nd and/or 3rd row seat floor mat will not lay flat.

Cause

The cause of this condition may be due to improper spacing of the floor mat retainer posts.

Object Number: 1885577 Size: SH

If this condition is present, the post spacing will likely appear as shown above when the center post is attached and the outboard retainers are laid over their corresponding posts.

Correction

Adjust the floor mat retainer(s) using the following procedure.

    Object Number: 1885578 Size: SH
  1. Gently pry apart the appropriate retainer from the underside of the mat.

  2. Object Number: 1885580 Size: SH

Important: Be sure to enlarge on the proper side of the cutout.

  3. Enlarge the cutout in the mat (maximum 3-4 mm) to allow the retainer to shift the amount necessary to better align to the post spacing in the carpet. In some cases, all retainers may need to be enlarged.

  4. Object Number: 1885795 Size: SH
  5. Reassemble the retainer to the mat. Prior to pressing the two halves of the retainer together, apply a thin coat of GM Weatherstrip Adhesive, P/N 12345097 (in Canada use 10953479), to the inside flange of the lower piece. This will secure the retainer to the backside of the mat and prevent movement of the retainer.
  6. Important: Allow the adhesive to dry for at 24 hours before installing the mat in the vehicle.

Mats can be placed in the vehicle and installed by the customer the following day.
