With RPO XA7 Heated windshield washer fluid system

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Unwanted activation of the front windshield washers. When this happens the wipers will also cycle to clear the windshield. This can be caused by an intermittent short in the windshield heated washer fluid module. When using the Tech 2 to look at the Wiper/Washer data, when the concern is happening it will display the "Windshield Washer Switch" is Active but the switch is not being pressed.

Recommendation/Instructions:

It is important to make sure the heated washer switch was not pressed.

Note: The normal operation of the heated windshield washer system. Push the heated washer fluid button to activate the heated windshield washer fluid system. This activation begins four heated wash/wipe cycles. The first heated wash/wipe cycle can take up to 40 seconds to occur, depending on outside temperature. After the first wash/wipe cycle, it can take up to 20 seconds for each of the remaining cycles. To end the heated windshield washer/wipe cycle early press the button again to turn off the heated windshield washer fluid system or it will automatically turn off after four wipe cycles have been completed.

If the heated washer fluid switch was not pressed and the washers/wipers continue to cycle with no switch input, disconnect the heated washer fluid module and monitor the parameter in the Tech 2. If the concern no longer occurs and the parameter now shows Inactive, then replace the windshield heated washer fluid module.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
