Subject: | Excessive ABS Initialization Noise and/or Traction Control Sensitivity Improvements, Front Suspension Noise (Reprogram EBCM) |
Models: | 2008 Buick Enclave |
2007-2008 GMC Acadia |
2007-2008 Saturn OUTLOOK |
Built Prior to November 29, 2007 |
This bulletin is being revised to provide build breakpoint information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-05-25-005 (Section 05 -- Brakes).
Important: This bulletin only applies to vehicles built PRIOR to 11/29/07. If the vehicle was built after 11/29/07, refer to SI to diagnose and repair.
Some customers may comment on excessive ABS initialization noise, which may be mistaken as front suspension noise. In addition, customers of 2008 model year vehicles may comment on traction control sensitivity.
The ABS unit runs diagnostic routines as soon as the vehicle reaches 15 km/h (9 mph). Some customers may find the valve noise objectionable.
DO NOT REPLACE THE EBCM OR SUSPENSION COMPONENTS FOR MISDIAGNOSED SUSPENSION NOISE.
Important: Prior to programming, you will need to know the following vehicle information:
• For 2007-2008 vehicles -- record the tire size the vehicle is equipped with. • For 2008 mode year vehicles ONLY -- using GMVIS, determine if the vehicle is equipped with RPO NV7 -- Variable Effort Power Steering.
Reprogram the EBCM using TIS2WEB, SPS Pass-Thru method. Service calibrations have been released to reduce the noise emitted from the ABS module as it runs the diagnostic routine.
In addition, calibrations for 2008 model year vehicles contain additional software to reduce the traction control sensitivity.
