This PI was superceded to include new software release to correct this concern. Please discard PIT4692.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Technicians may comment that the Tech 2 Steering Wheel Position Sensor Angle relearn is inoperative and DTC C0253 is stored. This may be due to a software concern within Tech2 version 28.006.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Update the Tech2 software with the latest version and perform the Steering Wheel Position Sensor Angle relearn. Software version 28.007 was released via TIS2WEB on August 25th 2008.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
