Subject:Power Driver's Seat Feels Bumpy or Jerky When Moved Fore or Aft (Cycle Seat Fore/Aft Several Times)

Models:2008 Buick Enclave
2007-2008 GMC Acadia
2007-2008 Saturn OUTLOOK

Condition

Some customers may comment that when moving the driver's seat fore or aft, the seat moves in a bumpy or jerky manner.

Cause

The new seat track bearings ride on the bearing races, which may have not yet properly mated. The bearings may take a set when the seat is stationary.

Correction

The seat track bearing races may be burnished or "worn-in" by doing the following steps:

Important: Perform the following procedure with the vehicle running or with a battery charger installed to prevent running down the vehicle battery.

  1. Place approximately 136 kgs (300 lbs) in the driver's seat. The weight may be in any form, but most conveniently a large technician seated in the driver's position.
  2. Important: Be sure to protect the drivers seat surface if ballast weight is used.

  3. With the seat all the way rearward, run the power seat all the way forward, and then run it all the way rearward to where it started. This constitutes one complete cycle.
  4. Repeat this operation for 30 cycles.
  5. At the end of this procedure, the seat should operate smoothly.
