J 37043 Park Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left-side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the left-side carpet retainer. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Fold the carpet back in order to gain access.

  5. Remove the park brake indicator switch electrical connector.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  7. Object Number: 474301  Size: SH
  8. Loosen the park brake equalizer nut.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 181443  Size: MH
  11. Remove the park brake lever nuts (1).
  12. Remove the park brake lever with the park brake cable.

  13. Object Number: 177096  Size: SH
  14. Remove the park brake cable end from the park brake lever clevis.

  15. Object Number: 177173  Size: SH
  16. Use the J 37043 in order to remove the cable from the lever.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 181468  Size: SH
  1. Install the park brake cable to the park brake lever.

  2. Object Number: 177096  Size: SH
  3. Install the park brake cable end to the park brake lever clevis.

  4. Object Number: 181443  Size: MH
  5. Install the park brake lever (2) with the cable (4).
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the park brake lever nuts (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the park brake indicator switch electrical connector.
  10. Fold the carpet back in place.
  11. Install the left-side carpet retainer. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
  12. Install the left-side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Knee Bolster, Insulator, Molding Replacement - Instrument Panel in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  13. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
