Removal Procedure
  1. Close the folding top and open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Disconnect the rear window defogger wires at the body harness junction.

    3. Object Number: 1708797 Size: MH
  3. Disengage the right and left water management tubes from the rear floor panel.
  4. Remove the fasteners securing the right and left stow straps to the inner quarter panels.
  5. Remove the fasteners securing the folding top cover rear retainer to the seat back body panel. Refer to Folding Top Cover Rear Retainer Replacement .
  6. Open the folding top and stow into the rear compartment.

  7. Disconnect the cables from the right and left rear compartment front panel doors.

    8. Important: The folding top side rail link (torx bar) is located beneath the rear compartment front trim panel. It is necessary to remove the side rail link prior to removing the folding top from the vehicle and necessary to remove the side rail link from the replacement folding top prior to installing a new top. The side rail link MUST be marked as to its position on the right side mounting bracket.

  8. Remove the folding top side rail link. Refer to Folding Top Side Rail Link Replacement .

  9. Remove the fasteners (1) retaining the left and right folding top side frame assembly to the pivot brackets.
  10. Remove the folding top assembly from the rear compartment.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1708800 Size: MH
  1. Position the folding top to the pivot brackets. Ensure that the side frame assemblies are engaged to the alignment pins.

    2. Important: Complete installation of the folding top side rail link prior to securing fasteners to the folding top side frame assemblies.

  2. Install the folding top side rail link. Refer to Folding Top Side Rail Link Replacement .

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the fasteners (1) to the side frame assemblies.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  4. Connect the cables from the right and left rear compartment front panel doors.
  5. Install the fasteners securing the folding top cover rear retainer to the seat back body panel. Refer to Folding Top Cover Rear Retainer Replacement .

    6. Object Number: 1708797 Size: MH
  6. Install the fasteners securing the right and left stow straps to the inner quarter panels.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  7. Engage the right and left water management tubes from the rear floor panel.
  8. Connect the rear window defogger wires at the body harness junction.
  9. Cycle top and check for proper function and latching of the folding top rear latches. If adjustment is necessary, refer to Folding Top Adjustment .
