Makes 🢒 Saturn 🢒 2007 🢒 SKY 🢒 Transmission/Transaxle 🢒 Automatic Transmission - 5L40-E/5L50-E 🢒 Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front closeout panel. Refer to Floor Panel Tunnel Panel Replacement - Front .

    3. Object Number: 1612919 Size: SH
  3. Remove the transmission fluid cooler lines (1) from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection

    4. Object Number: 1612921 Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolt (1) securing the transmission fluid cooler lines retainer (2) to the transmission.
  5. Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipes from the transmission, and position aside.
  6. Remove and discard the O-rings.

  7. Remove the push pin retainer from the pipe assembly from the left engine support.

    8. Object Number: 1702682 Size: SH
  8. Remove the push pin from the pipe assembly to the left engine support.

    9. Important: Note the routing of the transmission fluid cooler pipes to ensure proper installation.

  9. Remove the transmission fluid cooler pipe assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the fluid cooler pipe assembly to the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 1702682 Size: SH
  2. Install the transmission fluid cooler pipe push pin to the left engine support.

    3. Object Number: 1702681 Size: SH
  3. Install the transmission fluid cooler pipe push pin to the left engine support.

    4. Object Number: 1612919 Size: SH
  4. Connect the transmission fluid cooler pipes to the transmission fluid cooler at the radiator using the following steps:
    5. 4.1. Push the transmission fluid cooler pipes (1) into the quick connect fitting, until a "click" is heard.
    4.2. Tug gently on the transmission cooler pipes (1) to ensure proper retention.

  5. Install new O-ring seals over the transmission fluid cooler pipes.
  6. Insert the transmission fluid cooler pipes into the transmission.

    7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the bolt (1) securing the transmission fluid cooler pipe retainer (2) to the transmission.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the front closeout panel. Refer to Floor Panel Tunnel Panel Replacement - Front .
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Inspect the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
  11. Inspect for fluid leaks.
