Caution: Use care when working around the inflatable restraint instrument panel module because sharp objects may puncture the airbag and the airbag will not deploy correctly. In order to avoid personal injury if any part of the module is damaged, replace the entire module.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 2056688  Size: SH
  1. Remove the inflatable restraint instrument panel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
  2. Pull the rear edge of the trim cover (1) downward until the openings in the cover clear the 4 tips of the metal hooks.

  3. Object Number: 2056692  Size: SH
  4. Flex the rear bottom edge of the trim cover (1) rearward to clear the 4 hooks, and pivot the trim cover upward.

  5. Object Number: 2056702  Size: SH
  6. Pivot the trim cover (1) far enough so the cover can be disengaged from the 5 hooks at the forward side.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2056703  Size: SH

    Note: Ensure no debris or contamination is inside the housing and airbag cushion pack.

  1. Position the trim cover (1) over the 5 hooks on the forward side of the module.

  2. Object Number: 2056704  Size: SH
  3. Pivot the trim cover (1) over the module and slide down over the 4 hooks on the rear edge. Push the rear edge down far enough for the windows to clear the 4 hooks.

  4. Object Number: 2056705  Size: SH
  5. Ensure the lower edge of the trim cover (1) is tucked back up under the 4 hooks on the rear edge so that the cover can freely move up and down.
  6. Install the inflatable restraint instrument panel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement.
