Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the instrument panel left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .

    2. Object Number: 1990336 Size: SH
  2. Remove the clutch master cylinder push rod retainer (2) from the clutch pedal arm integral stud.
  3. Remove the clutch master cylinder push rod (1) from the clutch pedal arm integral stud.

    4. Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Place a shop towel under the clutch master cylinder in order to catch any fluid loss.

  5. Disconnect the clutch hose (1) from the clutch master cylinder and position the hose end above the brake master cylinder reservoir in order to prevent fluid loss.
  6. Remove the clutch hose/pipe assembly retainer clip (2) from the clutch master cylinder.
  7. Disconnect the clutch hose/pipe assembly (3) from the clutch master cylinder.
  8. Cap the reservoir and clutch hoses in order to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

  9. Rotate the clutch master cylinder (2) one ¼ turn clockwise and remove the cylinder from the cowl (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1608990 Size: SH

    Important: While installing, ensure that the clutch master cylinder pushrod is aligned with he clutch pedal.

  1. Align the keys (2) of the clutch master cylinder with the tabs (1) on the cowl.

    2. Install the clutch master cylinder to the cowl and rotate ¼ turn counterclockwise. The clutch fluid reservoir hose connection will be at the 12:00 position when the clutch master cylinder is properly installed.

  2. Uncap the reservoir and hydraulic lines.

  3. Install the clutch hose/pipe assembly retainer clip (2) to the clutch master cylinder.
  4. Connect the clutch hose/pipe assembly (3) to the clutch master cylinder.
  5. Tug gently on the clutch hose/pipe assembly (3) to ensure proper retention into the clutch master cylinder.
  6. Connect the clutch hose (1) to the clutch master cylinder.

  7. Install the clutch master cylinder push rod (1) to the clutch pedal arm integral stud.
  8. Install the clutch master cylinder push rod retainer (2) to the clutch pedal arm integral stud.
  9. Install the instrument panel left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  10. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding .
