Color Change to Fusible Link Circuit 2C From Starter Motor to Generator

The color of the fusible link, circuit 2C, from the starter motor to the generator has been changed from an orange color to a blue color to meet the suppliers color standardization specification. This change in color to the fusible link requires a different part number. The color standardization specification will help prevent the possibility of receiving an incorrect gage fusible link. The part number for the new blue fusible link is P/N 21024040.

Important: Only the color has changed on the fusible link. The amperage rating of the blue fusible link is identical to the orange fusible link. The part number of the blue fusible link is different from the orange fusible link.

The blue fusible link P/N 21024040 should be used on all 1996 vehicles built after and including VIN TZ392204 and 1997 vehicles.

Continue to use the orange fusible link P/N21022756 on all 1991-1995 vehicles and 1996 vehicles built before and including VIN TZ392203. Once stock of the orange fusible links is depleted, the blue fusible link P/N21024040 can be installed on vehicles built before the VIN breakpoint.

Important: The 1996 Electrical Service Manual incorrectly identifies circuit 2C as a red fusible link. Circuit 2C should have been identified as an orange fusible link in the service manual.
