ABS telltale always ON

Refer to ABS diagnostics in Brakes.

ABS telltale never ON

Perform a bulb check if the ABS telltale does not illuminate. Replace the cluster.

Speedometer inaccurate

Connect the scan tool, lift the drive wheels, start the engine, and place the shifter in drive. If the scan tool does not display the vehicle speed, refer to Engine Controls. If the scan tool does display the vehicle speed, perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the speedometer does not sweep, replace the cluster.

Odometer dark or displaying incorrectly

See Chart 1.

Tachometer inaccurate

Connect the scan tool and start the engine. If the scan tool does not display the engine RPM, refer to Engine Controls. If the scan tool does display the engine RPM, perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the tachometer does not sweep, replace the cluster.

Coolant temperature gage inaccurate

Connect the scan tool and start the engine. If the scan tool does not display coolant temperature, refer to Engine Controls. If the scan tool does display the coolant temperature, perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the coolant temperature gage does not sweep, replace the cluster.

Fuel gage inoperative/inaccurate

Connect the scan tool and turn the ignition ON. If the scan tool does not display the fuel level, refer to Engine Controls. If the scan tool does display the fuel level, perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the coolant temperature gage does not sweep, replace the cluster.

Air bag telltale does not illuminate

Perform the bulb check. If the airbag telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to SIR.

Air bag telltale always ON

Refer to SIR.

Battery telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the battery telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Engine Electrical.

Battery telltale ON at all times

Refer to Engine Electrical.

Low traction telltale ON at all times

Refer to Antiolock Brakes.

Low traction telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the battery telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Antilock Brakes.

Brake telltale ON at all times

Refer to Antilock Brakes.

Brake telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the brake telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Antilock Brakes.

Coolant temperature telltale ON at all times

Refer to Engine Cooling.

Coolant temperature telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the coolant temperature telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Engine Cooling.

Daytime running lamps (DRL) telltale ON at all times

Refer to Lighting Systems.

Daytime running lamps (DRL) telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the DRL telltale does not illuminate, replace the bulb. If telltale does illuminate, refer to Lighting Systems.

High beam telltale ON at all times

Refer to Lighting Systems.

High beam telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the high beam telltale does not illuminate, replace the bulb. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Lighting Systems.

Low brake fluid telltale ON at all times

Refer to Antilock Brakes.

Low brake fluid telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the low brake fluid telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Antilock Brakes.

Low coolant telltale ON at all times

Refer to Engine Cooling.

Low coolant telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the low coolant telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Antilock Brakes.

Low fuel telltale ON at all times

Low fuel telltale does not illuminate

Decklid/liftgate ajar telltale ON at all times

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the trunk/liftgate ajar telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If telltale does illuminate, refer to Theft Deterrent.

Turn indicators ON at all times or does not illuminate

Service engine soon telltale ON at all times

Refer to Engine Controls.

Service engine soon telltale does not illuminate

Perform the bulb check by turning the ignition key to RUN. If the bulb does not illuminate, replace the cluster.

Service wrench telltale ON at all times

Check for DTCs and refer to the appropriate system section.

Service wrench telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the service wrench telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, check for DTCs and refer to the appropriate system section.

Upshift telltale ON at all times

Refer to Manual Transaxle.

Upshift telltale does not illuminate

Perform the I/P Cluster Lamp and Gage Test with the scan tool. If the up-shift telltale does not illuminate, replace the cluster. If the telltale does illuminate, refer to Manual Transaxle.

Cluster back lighting does not illuminate
