Removal Procedure
- Remove the fasteners from the spoiler.
- Remove the spoiler from the compartment lid, being careful not to scratch the
paint.
Installation Procedure
Important: Care should be taken to prevent water leaks in the rear compartment. The inner
spoiler attachment holes in the compartment lid must be sealed with pre-sealed fasteners.
If the sealing is questionable, apply a body caulking compound or an equivalent to
prevent water intrusion. The gasket used on the factory option spoiler is used as
an aid in manufacturing and is not needed in service.
- If installing a spoiler on a replacement rear compartment lid, use the proper
Saturn template to ensure that the holes in the rear compartment lid are properly
placed.
- When installing a new spoiler, remove the paper backing from the gasket.
If using an existing spoiler, replace the gaskets and the attaching nuts.
- Position the spoiler to the compartment lid.
- When installing the fasteners, verify that the sealing feature is adequate.
If questionable, apply a body caulking compound or its equivalent to ensure that there
is no water intrusion.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Apply Loctite 242® Threadlocker, or equivalent, to the threads
and tighten securely.
Tighten
Tighten the compartment lid spoiler fasteners to 5 N·m
(44 lb in).
