The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Engineering has determined after programming a BCM on 2000-02 S-series vehicle, the mileage may be incorrect. If the BCM is programmed using TIS2Web the BCM may not be programmed correctly. The odometer will usually display a very low mileage and the vehicle may also set DTC B1001.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The technician will need to reprogram the BCM by using the disc version of TIS2000 standalone (SSS). Engineering reports that the BCM does not appear to be locked after programming with TIS2Web and can therefore be reprogrammed properly by using TIS2000 standalone. Engineering is working on revised software and this PI will be deleted when available.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
