Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement DOHC

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 873972 Size: SH
  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the air induction tubing from the throttle body to the air cleaner.
  3. Disconnect the MAP sensor harness connector.
  4. Notice: The MAP sensor is held in by a retaining clip. There is no hold down bolt or screw. Be careful when removing the MAP sensor from the clip. The clip is brittle and may break with excessive force.

  5. Remove the MAP sensor by gently holding the connector end with one hand and pulling up on the vacuum port end until the sensor moves. Pull the top side of the sensor down away from the clip and remove.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Important: If the MAP sensor clip is being replaced, the old clip must be removed. Use a 15 bit TORX to remove the old clip.

  1. Install the attachment bolt.
  2. Tighten
Tighten the MAP sensor clip attachment bolt to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).

Notice: Use extreme care when inserting the MAP sensor into the sensor clip. The clip is brittle and may break if excessive force is used or if the MAP sensor is not centered when being installed.

  3. Install the MAP sensor first by positioning the MAP sensor vacuum port hole in the intake manifold halfway. Center the sensor over the clip and push the sensor into the clip to secure. Ensure the sensor is all the way down in the intake manifold port hole.
  4. Connect the MAP sensor harness connector. Push in the connector until a click is heard and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
  5. Install the air induction tubing from the throttle body to the air cleaner.
