- Inspect the synchronizer blocker
ring fiber liner (1) for wear or damage (glazed, burned or missing).
- Inspect the synchronizer blocker ring teeth (2) for excessive wear.
- Inspect the synchronizer blocker ring lugs (3) for excessive wear.
- Inspect the synchronizer spring (4) for wear.
- Inspect the gear thrust surface (1)
for wear or scoring.
- Inspect the gear cone surface (2) for wear.
- Inspect the clutching teeth (3) for excessive wear, chipping, or
cracks.
- Inspect the gear teeth (4) for uneven wear scoring, galling or
cracks.
Important: When installing new blocker rings, soakĀ inĀ Saturn Transaxle Fluid
15 minutes prior to installing/measuring.
- Install the synchronizer blocker ring to matching gear and rotate until it stops.
- Measure the clearance between blocker ring and gear in four places.
