SOHC / L24 Adjustment
- Observe the position of the throttle linkage to ensure the linkage is
resting on the throttle stop screw.
- Depress the cruise cable adjuster release tabs and slide the adjuster
away from the module.
- Turn On the ignition, with the engine Off.
- Using the scan tool, note the TP sensor voltage.
- Move the adjuster (2) in toward the module (1) until a 1-2 mm
(0.040-0.079 in) (3) clearance is between the adjuster and the accelerator
pedal bracket. There should be a very slight amount of play in the accelerator cable.
Notice: Driveability concerns may result if the cruise control rod is not adjusted properly.
Important: 1-2 mm (0.040-0.079 in) is approximately one click
movement of the adjuster.
- Using the scan tool, make sure the TP sensor voltage is not greater than the
voltage noted before the adjustment procedure was performed.
DOHC / LL0 Adjustment
- Observe the position of the throttle linkage to ensure the linkage is
resting on the throttle stop screw.
- Depress the cruise cable adjuster release tabs and slide the adjuster
away from the module.
- Move the adjuster in toward the module until the accelerator cable spring
just touches the cruise cable adjuster.
Notice: Driveability concerns may result if the cruise control rod is not adjusted properly.
Important: 1-2 mm (0.040-0.079 in) is approximately one click
movement of the adjuster.
Important: At this point the spring should NOT be compressed.
- Move the cable adjuster (2) one click toward the module (1). There should be
a 1-2 mm (0.040-0.079 in) (4) compression of the spring. There
now should be no play in the accelerator cable. The spring should be 1-2 mm
compressed and the throttle linkage should be resting on the stop screw.
