Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the air induction resonator.
  3. Disconnect the electronic ignition (EI) module harness connector.
  4. Remove the upper and lower EI module bolts and remove the EI module.
  5. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to remove the spark plug wires from the coil tower by gently prying between the EI module and the black CPA.
  6. Remove the ignition coil from the EI module by rotating the coil in an upward direction.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Ensure the electrical connectors are lined up before seating to avoid damage to the electrical connectors.

  1. Install the ignition coil by placing the ignition coil tab into the EI module slot and rotating the ignition coil until the lower portion of the ignition coil is seated on the male electrical connectors.
  2. Important: Ensure the threads of the bolts and the threaded holes are clean and free of any residue.

  3. Install the spark plug wires and the CPA to the coil.
  4. Install the upper and lower EI module bolts.
  5. Connect the EI module harness connector. Push in connector until a click is heard and pull back to ensure a positive engagement.
  6. Install the air induction resonator.
