Accelerator Pedal, Shaft, and Bracket Assembly Replacement LHD
Removal Procedure
Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned.
To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support
for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the bracket assembly attaching nuts and discard.
Important: To prevent leaks, the bracket assembly attaching nuts must be replaced whenever
they are removed.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the accelerator control cable from the accelerator pedal assembly.
- Release the cruise control cable from the accelerator pedal assembly when
applicable.
Important: The accelerator pedal and lever assembly are serviced as a unit.
- Remove the accelerator pedal assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the bracket assembly onto the dash panel.
- Attach the accelerator control cable to the accelerator pedal.
- Attach the cruise control cable to the accelerator pedal assembly when
applicable.

- Install the new bracket assembly attaching nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator bracket assembly-to-front of dash nuts to 12 N·m
(106 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Check the accelerator control assembly for binding.

Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the accelerator control cable from the accelerator pedal assembly.
- Release the cruise control rod from the accelerator pedal assembly when
applicable.
- Remove the single nut from the accelerator pedal and remove the pedal
assembly. Discard the nut. Do not reuse.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: The accelerator pedal and lever assembly are serviced as a unit.
- Install the accelerator pedal assembly to the steering column support bracket
using a new, prevailing torque nut.
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator pedal assembly-to-support bracket nut to 8 N·m
(70 lb in).
- Attach the accelerator control cable to the accelerator pedal.
- Attach the cruise control rod to the accelerator pedal assembly when applicable.
The cruise control rod will require adjustment. Refer to

- Check the accelerator control assembly for binding.
