Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the brake hose at the wheel cylinder.
- Disassemble the rear drum brake assembly. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
- Remove the bleeder valve and cap.
- Remove the wheel cylinder retaining fasteners and remove the cylinder.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the new wheel cylinder onto the backing plate with the fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel cylinder-to-backing plate to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the brake hose with NEW washers onto the wheel cylinder.
Tighten
Tighten the brake hose-to-wheel cylinder to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).
- Install the bleeder valve and cap.
Tighten
Tighten the rear brake bleeder valve to 7.5 N·m (66 lb in).
- Completely assemble the rear drum brake assembly. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
.
- Bleed the brakes. Refer to the appropriate brake bleeding procedure.
