Displays NOT RUN, TEST FAIL or TEST PASS for each solenoid test. NOT RUN indicates the test has not run because the commanded state (either On or Off) needed to update the test has not been commanded by either the Scan tool or PCM. TEST FAIL indicates the last time the PCM ran that specific test, the voltage state was not correct. TEST PASS indicates the last time the PCM ran that specific test, the voltage state detected was correct.
LOW VOLT or OPEN
Since each transaxle solenoid is a low side driver (PCM controls ground circuit), the LOW VOLT and OPEN tests will update when fuel pump relay or TRANS SOLENOID POWER is commanded On with solenoid commanded Off. At this time, the PCM should detect a high voltage feedback state (ignition voltage). If the PCM detects a low voltage feedback state, the Scan tool will display TEST FAIL. This test checks for an open or short to ground. The LOW VOLT and OPEN tests will display the same results because the PCM cannot detect the difference between an open or short to ground.
HIGH VOLT
Again, since each transaxle solenoid is a low side driver, the HIGH VOLT test will update when the solenoid is being commanded On or when the SOLENOID AUDIBLE CHECK is performed. When the solenoid is being commanded On, the PCM supplies ground for the solenoid circuit and the voltage feedback state should be low. If a high voltage feedback state is detected, the Scan tool will display TEST FAIL. This test checks for a short to voltage, shorted solenoid or open PCM driver. If a short to voltage or shorted solenoid condition exists, the PCM will open the driver circuit for protection and the voltage feedback state will be high.
Each test updates every 100 ms.
Important: When the SOLENOID AUDIBLE CHECK is performed, the solenoid is being PWM (commanded On and Off) and all tests will be updated.
