Removal Procedure
- Remove the outer door panel. Refer to "Rear Door Outer Panel - Sedan/Wagon" procedures in this section.
- Disconnect the outside handle rod from the door lock. Compress the pin on the pivot and remove the pivot and rod.
- Unlatch the rod retainer. Remove the rod from the pivot.
Important: The rod retaining clips used in the door lock levers and door lock cylinder pawls are not re-usable. The clips must be replaced every time a rod is extracted.
Installation Procedure
- If installing a new pivot assembly, remove and discard the shipping retainer shown in the lower right illustration.
- Replace the outside handle rod retaining clip at the door lock.
- Install the outside handle rod on the pivot assembly.
- Insert the rear pin of the pivot into the door frame. Compress the front pin and insert into the door frame.
- Adjust the rod to freely enter the retention clip and snap into place.
- Install the outer door panel. Refer to "Rear Door Outer Panel - Sedan/Wagon" procedures in this section.
Important: Check for proper adjustment. There should be no tension on the pivot or door lock.
