The tachometer shows your engine speed in revolutions per min (rpm X 1000). Do not run your engine at speeds in the red area of your tachometer.

The maximum rpm is limited in Park (P) or Neutral (N) to 4000 rpm by your vehicle's computer. This is to prevent engine damage.
