Subject: | Quick Tips for Warranty Administration |
Models: | 2005 and Prior Model Year Saturn Vehicles |
Important: This service bulletin is not applicable to Saturn retailers in Canada.
Purpose: The purpose of this bulletin is to provide Saturn retailers with new warranty administration information.
Effective immediately, all tires replaced during the new vehicle limited warranty period are to be returned to the tire manufacturer. Also, it is necessary to use the GM Global Tire Warranty Claim Website to electronically create the Tire Return Form and the UPS e-Label to return the replaced tire(s). Tires must be returned within 30 working days from replacement date. Saturn will closely monitor tire returns. If replaced tires are not received within 30 days following tire acquisition, debit action will be posted to the appropriate retailer open account. An additional bulletin containing related information will be published at a later date.
Avoid return reason 099 - labor operation incompatible to case type - by using the correct labor operation for tire replacements.

Serviceline contains an option that allows "POSSIBLE RECALLS" to be printed on a CSO. Currently, the heading for this option reads "Recall Campaigns." The use of this title opens the possibility for misinterpretation as to the meaning of the heading. Please share with all service consultants, technicians, etc. that recalls listed on this option are "Possible Recalls." A request to change the heading to "POSSIBLE RECALLS (please verify open recalls by running a national vehicle history [NVH])" has been submitted to ADP-EDS. This heading should remind the end-user that the only correct way to verify whether a recall needs to be completed is to run a NVH and verify the open recalls by reviewing the results returned by the NVH.
Per the updated QVC bulletin, the only labor operations that should be used are X5140 - Personalization Allowance and X5118 - Extended Vehicle Coverage (EVC) Choice, because these two labor operations are compatible with each other. Please DO NOT use labor operation X5117 - Personalization Allowance from bulletin 04-LF-075A 2005 MY Customer Choice Administration Guide to submit for the Saturn QVC Care Special Offer because it is not compatible with the labor operations above.
Mid-January 2005, labor operation K9504 from Corporate Service Bulletin #03-07-30-051A was opened to include 2003-2004 ION vehicles (less the recalibration). Technicians, please use labor operation K9504 when referring to this bulletin for ION vehicles. Service Engineering is working on additional repair procedures to further address related concerns with ION vehicles.
Corporate Technical Service Bulletin #04-07-30-011B is a Service Manual update that addresses the application requirements for the liquid PA sealant , P/N 24233365, that is used to seal the mating surfaces of the VTi transaxle in two (2) different locations. Each container of sealant services 3 vehicles, so part cost $73.68 x 1.4 = $103.15 / 11= $34.38. In the case of a Saturn Service Plan (SSP) claim, the maximum amount for this part in this repair is $40.93.

Saturn Car Care Maintenance I (labor op X3600) and Maintenance II (labor op X3610) allow extra labor time for designated maintenance procedures to be performed with an oil change when indicated by the "Change Oil Soon" indicator light. Although customers have the option to service their vehicle at a 3 month/ 3,000 mile interval (X3500), the additional maintenance procedures of X3600 or X3610 are not to be performed within this interval. When alternating between Maintenance I and Maintenance II, use X3600 or X3610 only when the "Change Oil Soon" light illuminates.
