Circuit Description
The PCM has a DTC associated with start/stall to assist in diagnosis of intermittent
conditions. This DTC will set if the engine is in the run mode and crank position
sensor (CKP) signal is lost when ignition has not been cycled. This DTC will not turn
On the MIL (SERVICE ENGINE SOON) or SERVICE telltale lamps. The code can be set through
driver error. An example would be a vehicle equipped with manual transaxle which the
clutch is released too quickly stalling the engine.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
• | Ignition voltage present. |
• | Crank position pulses to the PCM are missing. |
Test Description
• | Check for DTC P0336. If present refer to diagnosis chart and repair first. |
• | Verify driver error did not induce. |
• | View MALF history and attempt to duplicate condition. |
If no DTCs are present and customer complaint symptoms have bee verified, use
the symptoms charts to isolate.
If other DTCs are set along with P1599, diagnose the other DTCs first.
