Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Diagnosis for Saturn SL1/SC1/SW1 1999

  1. Check solenoid connector for open, spread or corroded terminals.

    2. Object Number: 863175 Size: SF
  2. Test solenoid:
    3. 2.1. Remove BTSI solenoid. (Refer to "Brake Transaxle Shift Interlock (BTSI) System" removal procedure in this service manual.)
    2.2. Ground terminal A of the BTSI solenoid and apply 12 volts to terminal B.
       • When 12 volts are applied to the BTSI solenoid, the actuator rod should not be able to move.
       • If the actuator rod can move with 12 volts applied, replace the BTSI solenoid.
