Subject: | Driver's Side Power Window Switch Intermittently Inoperative -- Replace the Power Window Switch Assembly |
Models: | 2000 Saturn S-Series vehicles equipped with power windows |
Customers may comment that the driver's side power window is intermittently inoperative. Some customer observations might be:
• | Window will go down, but, will not return to the up position. |
• | Window will go down in automatic down mode even when the normal mode is activated. |
This condition may be caused by the driver side window switch internally latching which causes the power window motor to stay ON. If the regulator motor stays ON when the window reaches the end of its travel for approximately 15 seconds, the internal circuit breaker on the power window motor will open. After the circuit breaker cools, it will reset and normal power window operation will resume.
Replace the power window switch assembly. Follow the procedure in this bulletin for power window switch replacement.
This is an intermittent condition and may be difficult to duplicate. If the customer concern matches the condition, perform this procedure. Even if the condition cannot be duplicated.
