Removal Procedure

    Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  1. Raise vehicle on a hoist.
  2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  3. Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper or wheel cylinder. Plug the opening of the caliper or wheel cylinder to avoid fluid loss and contamination.
  4. Disconnect the brake hose from the brake pipe. Plug the opening of the brake pipe to avoid fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the brake hose to the brake pipe.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).


    Object Number: 866449  Size: SH

    Important: Be sure that front brake hose is routed as shown with loop to the rear.

  3. Install the brake hose to the caliper or wheel cylinder with NEW washers.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the washers to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).

  5. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  6. Check connections for fluid leaks.
  7. Notice: Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel nuts to loosen in service.

  8. Position wheel onto hub.
  9. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat tightening pattern to be sure torque is correct.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten wheel nuts to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).

  11. Lower vehicle from hoist.
