COMPLAINT/CONDITION

POSSIBLE CAUSE(s)

No Park or Stuck in Park

Control cable out of adjustment.

Internal transaxle failure.

Refer to Transaxle Performance Diagnosis

No Reverse

Internal transaxle failure.

Refer to No Reverse Diagnostic Chart.

Grinds Into Reverse/Won't Engage REV or Hops Out of Reverse

Damaged FWD/REV dog clutch sleeve and hub.

Inspect and replace damaged components.

Transaxle Binds in Reverse and Creeps Forward in Neutral

Clutch Clearance too tight.

Clutch plate tangs not aligned to gear hub.

Check clutch clearance and repair as required.

Inspect all gear/hub assemblies for proper engagement into clutch plates.

Transaxle Binds Up in Reverse

Damaged or rolled input hub seal rings.

Remove end cover and inspect input hub seal rings.

Delay to Reverse - Cold

FWD/REV piston seal leaks.

Servo apply valve sticking.

Replace seals.

Replace damaged component.

Harsh/Erratic Shifts

Terminal tightness problem at harness to connector plate connection.

PC Solenoid

Throttle position (TP) sensor erratic.

Damaged or incorrect clutch pack spring.

Pressure regulator valve sticking.

Repair or replace harness connector.

Replace PC solenoid.

Perform snapshot when condition exists.

Replace clutch pack spring.

Check for debris or sticking valve. Remove debris and clean components. If complaint/condition still exists, replace upper valvebody.

Harsh 2-3 Upshift

Input hub to tube O-ring leaking or blockage in passages.

Remove end cover and inspect seals and tubes for blockages.
