- Put the control shift lever in Park (P) position and turn the ignition
key to the LOCK position.
- Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder assembly.
- Remove the front cupholder/ashtray assembly to gain access to the park
lock cable assembly.
- Using a small screwdriver, pick or awl lift the lock tab on the park lock cable
assembly.
- Depress the control shift lever button and quickly release three times
to move the cable to the initial position.
- With one hand, insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder assembly
and turn to the RUN position.
- With the other hand, depress the park lock cylinder assembly toward the control
base slowly while repeatedly attempting to turn the key to the LOCK position from
the RUN position.
- Once the key can easily be turned to the LOCK position, depress the lock
tab on park lock cable assembly.
Important: When the lock tab is set, the slider position
may change slightly.
- Perform the Park Lock Cable Assembly Operation Inspection procedure.
- If the automatic transaxle park lock cable does not pass inspection procedure,
repeat steps 4 through 9 until it is properly adjusted.
Important: If the ignition key cannot be turned to the
LOCK position, lift up the lock tab on the park lock cable assembly. Push the park
lock cable assembly towards the control base assembly until the ignition key can be
turned to the LOCK position. Refer to steps 4 through 9.
- When the park lock cable assembly is correctly adjusted, install the front cupholder/ashtray
assembly into the console.
- Perform the Park Lock Cable Assembly Operation Inspection procedure.
