- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF and remove the key.
- Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the instrument panel fuse block (IPFB).
Important: Left hand drive (LHD) illustration shown, right hand drive (RHD) similar.
- Disconnect the driver (YEL 2-way) connector, clipped to the steering column
brace.
Important: Do not remove the upper trim panel. Passenger disconnect is accessible from
the underside of the I/P.
- Disconnect the passenger (YEL 2-way) connector.
- Detach the clip holding the passenger (YEL 2-way) connector to the metal
brace, near the HVAC fan.

- Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel.
7.1. | Remove the screws located under the upper trim panel on the passenger
side of the vehicle. |
| Notice: Be careful not to damage the VIN plate when removing or replacing the upper
trim panel.

7.2. | Disengage the clips at the locations by grasping the edges of the
upper trim panel and lifting up. |
7.3. | Disengage the hook-and-loop fastener attachments at the rear of the upper
trim panel by reaching under the panel and lifting straight up. |
7.4. | Raise the upper trim panel enough to clear the VIN plate. |
- Disconnect the left and right curtain inflator module (YEL 2-way) connectors.
