Notice: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.
Important: Before removing, note the position of the door weatherstrip over the edge of the headliner.
5.1. | Remove the second to last curtain airbag attachment and allow it to hand loose. |
5.2. | Disengage the curtain airbag channel ties that keep the airbag in position. |
6.1. | Lift forward edge up from the behind striker cover bracket. |
6.2. | Pull forward to slide the channel tab from behind the rear striker cover bracket. |
• | To remove the front bracket, pull at the clip location to disengage. |
• | To remove the rear bracket, disengage the lower clip and slide the upper insert out of the space frame. |
• | Front bracket: Push firmly into spaceframe to engage the clip. |
• | Rear bracket: Slide the upper insert into the spaceframe and push firmly at the lower edge of the bracket to engage the clip to the spaceframe. |
2.1. | Slide the channel tab under the rear striker bracket. |
2.2. | Hook the channel on the sheet metal while sliding it behind the forward striker bracket. |
Caution: The head curtain inflator module tethers must be routed correctly. Improper routing may result in personal injury or improper curtain airbag deployment.
Tighten
Tighten the head curtain inflator module bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
4.1. | Snap the channel ties around the airbag. |
4.2. | Route the tether below the coathook locations. |
4.3. | Secure the tether to the roof rail Velcro® pad. |
4.4. | Ensure there is no slack in the tether. |
