Air Cleaner and Front Intake Air Duct Replacement SOHC
Removal Procedure
- Open the clamp at the throttle body.
- Disconnect the fresh air hose at the air duct.
- Remove the air cleaner housing cover and air duct.
Important: Removing this assembly provides access to the EGR valve, coolant sensors, fuel
rail, fuel lines and regulator, fuel system Schrader® valve, upper starter bolt,
canister purge solenoid, ignition module, and PRNDL switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector at the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
- Remove the plastic fastener at the top of the resonator and remove the
resonator.
- Remove the three air box fasteners and remove the assembly.
- Inspect the assembly for cracks or damage. A damaged assembly can cause
noise. Replace if cracked or damaged. The air box has a hole in the bottom for water
drainage. The hole must be free of debris.
Installation Procedure
- Install the air box assembly and assembly attaching screws.
Tighten
Tighten all the air cleaner/resonator attachment bolts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector at the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
- Install the resonator. Insert the end of the resonator into the air box
assembly opening.
- Install the resonator push in plastic fastener.
- Install the air cleaner tube and air box cover. Attach the air box clips
and install the clamp at the throttle body.
Tighten
Tighten the throttle body clamp to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Connect the fresh air hose to the cam cover.
