Maintenance Requirements - Group 1

    • Rotate the tires. See Tire Inspection and Rotation for the proper rotation pattern and additional information.
    • Inspect the brake system. Check the brake calipers for freedom of movement and lubricate if required.
    • Inspect the exhaust system and shields.
    • Lubricate the door hinges, check links, hood and sunroof (if equipped).

Maintenance Requirements - Group 2

    • Rotate the tires. See Tire Inspection and Rotation for the proper rotation pattern and additional information.
    • Inspect the brake system. Check the brake calipers for freedom of movement and lubricate if required.
    • Inspect the exhaust system and shields.
    • Lubricate the door hinges, check links, hood and sunroof (if equipped).
    • Inspect the engine accessory drive belt and coolant hoses every 12 months or 18,000 miles (30,000 km), whichever occurs first.

Maintenance Requirements - Group 3

    • Inspect the exhaust system and shields.

    • Replace the engine air cleaner filter every 36 months or 30,000 mile (50,000 km), whichever occurs first. An Emission Control Service . (See footnote)
    • Inspect the vacuum lines/hoses every 24 months or 30,000 mile (50,000 km), whichever occurs first. An Emission Control Service . (See footnote)
    • Replace spark plugs. An Emission Control Service.

Maintenance Requirements - Group 4

    • Inspect the engine accessory drive belt and coolant hoses every 12 months or 18,000 mile (30,000 km), whichever occurs first.

Maintenance Requirements - Group 5

    • Change automatic transaxle fluid and filter if the vehicle is mainly driven under one or more of these conditions:
       - In heavy city traffic where the outside temperature regularly reaches 90°F (32°C) or higher.
       - In hilly or mountainous terrain.
       - When doing frequent trailer towing.
       - Uses such as found in taxi, police or delivery service.

If you do not use your vehicle under any of these conditions, the fluid does not require changing at this time.

Maintenance Requirements - Group 6

    • Replace the engine air cleaner filter every 36 months or 30,000 mile (50,000 km), whichever occurs first. An Emission Control Service . (See footnote)
    • Inspect the vacuum lines/hoses every 24 months or 18,000 mile (30,000 km), whichever occurs first. An Emission Control Service . (See footnote)
    • Replace spark plugs. An Emission Control Service.

Maintenance Requirements - Group 8

    • Replace engine fuel filter. An Emission Control Service . (See footnote)
    • Drain, flush and refill cooling system every 5 years or 100,000 miles (166,000 km), whichever comes first. See Engine Coolant in your owner's handbook Index for what to use. Inspect coolant hoses. Clean radiator, condenser (if equipped with air conditioning) , pressure cap and neck. Pressure test the cooling system and pressure cap. An Emission Control Service .
    • Change automatic transaxle fluid and filter.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the California Air Resource Board has determined that the failure to perform this maintenance item will not nullify the emission warranty or limit recall liability prior to the completion of the vehicle's useful life. Saturn, however, urges that all recommended maintenance service be performed at the indicated intervals and the maintenance be recorded.
